Solana Taps Social App Veteran Nikita Bier as Mobile Advisor to Boost Ecosystem Growth

Solana has welcomed a notable name in mobile and social app innovation to its ecosystem. On Tuesday, serial tech entrepreneur Nikita Bier announced he is joining Solana as an advisor, marking a strategic move aimed at accelerating the blockchain’s mobile ambitions.

Bier, best known for founding tbh, the viral anonymous social app acquired by Facebook (now Meta) in 2017, brings a wealth of experience in building products that resonate with younger audiences. He followed up tbh with Gas, another social app geared toward teens, which was acquired by Discord in 2023.

In a post on X, Bier expressed confidence in Solana’s mobile future:

Bier’s appointment comes as Solana ramps up its mobile strategy, including hardware and app development. In September, Solana Mobile—a division of Solana Labs—unveiled its second crypto smartphone, the Solana Seeker, while memecoin launchpad Pump.fun made its debut on mobile just last month.

Bier has long been on Solana’s radar. He mentioned that discussions with Gokal and Solana Labs date back several years, but that now the ecosystem has matured enough for mobile apps to meaningfully scale and capture user attention.

In addition to his new role, Bier is a Product Growth Partner at Lightspeed Ventures, a major venture capital firm active in the crypto space and a backer of Solana. According to his bio, Bier has been building consumer-focused digital tools since childhood, including viral experiments like Politify, a policy analysis platform he created while at UC Berkeley.
