LINE App Integrates Web3 Dapps to Drive Crypto Adoption in Asia

LINE, one of Asia's most popular messaging apps, is making a major push into the world of Web3 with the launch of its first batch of decentralized applications (Dapps). These "Mini Dapps," accessible directly within the LINE mobile messenger, aim to bring blockchain technology to a wider audience by offering a range of games, social media services, and other Web3-enabled content.
Dapp Portal: Your Gateway to LINE's Web3 Ecosystem
The launch of Mini Dapps is accompanied by a new "Dapp Portal," a platform designed to help LINE users discover and interact with these new applications and trade digital assets like NFTs. This initiative is powered by Kaia, a Layer 1 blockchain developed jointly by LINE NEXT, LINE's Web3 venture, and Kakao, South Korea's leading messaging platform.
From Manga to Wellness: A Diverse Range of Mini Dapps
Among the first Dapps available are "Captain Tsubasa -RIVALS-," a game based on the popular Japanese manga, and Superz, a healthcare and wellness application. LINE NEXT has ambitious plans to launch over 1,000 Dapps this year, signaling a major commitment to expanding its Web3 ecosystem.
Following Telegram's Lead: A Proven Path to Web3 Adoption
This strategy mirrors Telegram's successful foray into Dapps last year. Telegram's integration of blockchain-based games like Notcoin and Hamster Kombat has been a significant driver of user growth, boosting the network's user base from 4 million to 128 million in just one year.
LINE's Vision: Bringing Web3 to the Masses
"A true popularization of Web3 services depends on their accessibility and usability," said Youngsu Ko, CEO of LINE NEXT, in a statement. "Mini Dapps based on LINE Messenger will become the first large-scale Web3 user adoption case in Asia."
With an estimated 200 million users worldwide, particularly in Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand, LINE is well-positioned to introduce a vast audience to the world of Web3.
