Farcaster Launches Pro Version With PRO Token Airdrop for Early Subscribers

Farcaster, the decentralized social media protocol backed by Paradigm and founded by ex-Coinbase executives, has launched Farcaster Pro, a premium version of its app designed to give users more control and benefits on the platform. As part of the rollout, early adopters were rewarded with a surprise airdrop of the newly introduced PRO token.
Priced at $120 annually, Farcaster Pro went live on May 28. Within just one hour, it had already signed up 3,700 users. Some of those early subscribers were quick to share the perks online—one post on X claimed a $600 token drop just a day after subscribing.
Yesterday I paid $120 for Warpcast Pro. Today I got a $600 airdrop.

Alongside the release, Farcaster introduced a verification tool allowing users to see if they were among the first 10,000 Pro subscribers. Those who qualify may be eligible for future airdrops, creating further incentive to join early.
What Is Farcaster Pro? More than just a subscription upgrade, Farcaster Pro represents a strategic push toward a sustainable model for decentralized social media. The Pro tier integrates directly into the protocol’s flagship app, Warpcast, which recently reverted to the Farcaster name to unify branding.
Farcaster is built on Optimism, an Ethereum Layer 2 network. It uses a hybrid structure where key user actions and identity are recorded on-chain, while posts and social content live on decentralized storage hubs. This combination aims to preserve user sovereignty while ensuring performance at scale.
Unlike traditional social media platforms, Farcaster isn’t just an app—it’s a protocol. That means developers can build their own mini-apps within the network, allowing for a more diverse and resilient ecosystem. The Pro version enhances this experience with tools and benefits tailored to power users and community leaders.
Farcaster has been gaining momentum in recent months. According to data from Dune Analytics, daily active users surged to nearly 50,000 in late March before dipping slightly. Current activity remains strong, hovering around 40,000 daily active users.
